The last time the Rogers girls hockey team took on Buffalo, they were demolished 12-0, on Dec. 9.
The young Royals lineup showed how far they’ve come on Tuesday night, falling to the conference champion Bison again, but by only 4-2 this time, in their Mississippi 8 Conference finale.
In fact, the Royals led 2-0 after one period, on goals by Danni Hopp (Sami Scherling assisting) and Paetyn Levis.
Buffalo (11-0 conference, 17-7 overall) outshot the Royals 42-15 and overtook them with Payton Rudiger knocking in two goals and Kirsten Olson and Ashley Effertz one each.
Kendra Carlson made 15 saves for Buffalo, and Ellie Anderson 38 saves for Rogers.
The Royals (4-14-6 overall) finished conference play 3-5-4. They will close the regular season hosting Anoka on Thursday evening.
