Coaches Corner
November 2010 “As we prepare for the first several weeks of our winter season, it has been extremely exciting for our community to experience the excitement surrounding the Girls Soccer and now Boys Football Team playing for the State Championship. Excitement is truly in the air, and the Winter Sports teams are poised and intend to try and keep this excitement going. Both the Boys and Girls Hockey Teams this year are low in numbers – but we have very skillful groups of athletes that are very capable of providing their own run to the State Tournaments. While the Girls have officially begun their competition schedule, the Boys came off of a successful first week of the season, capping off with very successful mini-scrimmages on Saturday – tieing Woodbury 1-1; a win versus Richfield 6-0 and; a Tie versus #1 Pre-Season favorite St. Thomas Academy 0-0. The start of our Season has been somewhat hectic with well over one-third of the Squad unable to participate due to Football, Injury, etc. We are preparing for a Thanksgiving Weekend, Non-Conference game versus Mounds View and Park of Cottage Grove. This will truly be a test for us with 9 or more players out for the first 2-3 games, but a golden opportunity for the very young players to show their stuff, and I am very excited to see what they are able to bring. I know that we are extremely excited to get the entire Team together and make our push for a repeat Mississippi 8 Conference Championship and Section Final showdown for our opportunity to go to State. Passion…Attitude…Will - There is no #1, #2 or #3 – It’s all or none!”
